Shannon Miller Back in the Gym

1996 Olympic gold medallist Shannon Miller (right) is training again, this time at Brown's mega-gym in Houston. Miller says she is getting in shape for exhibitions, but has not ruled out a return to competition.

Miller lives in Houston with her husband, Chris Phillips, and has resumed her studies at the University of Houston. She had been attending the University of Oklahoma, where her former coach, Steve Nunno, has taken over the women's gymnastics team. Miller, 24, says she's still in the early stages of training and has no real plans to compete yet.

"I'm just kind of getting back in shape right now," Miller told IG, "and trying to work a few things from the new Code and see how they go. But mainly just kind of wait and see,... Then, if something comes along, then great."
Miller reports that she loves Houston and even sees a few former teammates from time to time. "Dominique (Moceanu) is here and Kim (Zmeskal) visits a lot, so I have a (few) ties here through the gymnastics community," she said.
